The Orange County Region History Center in Orlando is hosting this event with the DeSoto National Memorial. Hernando DeSoto arrived in Florida in May of 1539 and he named himself the governor of this land they called “La Florida”. DeSoto brought the first shipment of pigs to Florida, he searched for gold and you will learn about his interactions with the Native American’s of the area. DeSoto was also the first European to cross the Mississippi River.
Come join the DeSoto National Memorial Park as they celebrate Hernando DeSoto’s exploration of Florida with The Orange County Regional History Center. The Lunch and Learn will be held on Thursday September 19th from 12pm-1pm. You can preorder lunch from Jason’s Deli for $6.00 per person. Make sure you reserve your spot today.
