Caught in the Act!
January 25th, 2007 by tisnerHow to avoid being scammed by property managers.
Now it was suppose to be vacant according to the online calendar and owner, but low and behold there were guests staying there when we arrived to take pictures.
I called the owners and they had no idea. Could the property manager be letting the home and pocketing the money. An awkward feeling when you are 5000 miles away what do you do?
First be sure to call your home on the weeks that someone is not suppose to be there. You may say Hello I am the owner of the home and I just wanted to be sure the unit was clean when you arrived. Just wanted to be sure you found it and arrived safely. Ask them to spell their name to confirm your records and thank them for staying at your home.
Call the gate guard and ask if he has issued a pass or registered people staying at your address if someone answers the phone at your home and you have no record.
Don’t call the property manager and complain. Wait until you get your bill and then if you are not credited for the tennant give them a call and ask them to explain why the credit was not issued.
