BlogOrlando the UnConference held in Orlando Florida at Rollins College
Last week an event took place in at Rollins College in Winter Park Florida called blogOrlando the UnConference.
It was about technology, blogging and most important about social networking, local networking and tech updates from some of the brightest and best.
It was very informal, very open to question and answers from all and everyone was included. Kudos to
Josh Hallett and all involved for putting together such a terrific event. You did a wonderful job at blogOrlando UnConference.
The blogOrlando keynote speakers were entertaining and enlightening. What an honor to meet
Shel Iseael and hear about his Global Neighbourhoods Shel is a co author with Robert Scobal of the book
Naked Conversations. His stories and graphics were very informative and easy to follow. I could have listened to him all morning.
The video session was fantastic as John Rife shared his techniques while Finding America Ryan Price from
Ryan Price Media did an outstanding job for podcasting. Encouraging ideas to use on our next years China cruise/excursions.
One of my favorites was a great lady from Austin Texas Connie Reece Every Dot Connects whose humor and examples opened the doors for lots of insight on different social networks. Her card alone was titled Blogabillies which brings a smile to your face. We learn so much with laughter and humor but her smile and style kept us all intrigued.
At lunch we met Mark Krupinski from Rasmussen College is writing a lot of new programming for the college using wiki’s.
The local newspaper representative
Daniel Sanchez also shared many new ways to increase and reach the local community.
And a bright young man( forgive me Alex but you are half my age) opened the conversation of local social networks, barcamps and opportunities for those of us in Orlando Alex Rudloff is an entrepenuer and started Emurse
One thing I didn’t know was Orlando Florida is number 7 in the country when it comes to tech jobs after Austin Tx.and just how excited many of the the young techies were about living in Orlando! When it comes to local social clubs there is everything here from the Vespa riders club, photo groups, and scrapbookers to high tech web gurus bar camps! The interesting fact from this session is how sharing your tech ideas together in a creative group office setting can be so nourishing even if you are not working in the same company or field.
The last session was on SEO and I really enjoyed this plus the sharing was wonderful in particular the point of view ofMichael Nunez a business development EVP from Suluta.
The Keynote closer was
Chris Heuer from San Francisco who also wrapped up last year. His review of social media and our upcoming opportunities brought the ideas of the day together. The description on his site about it sums it up.
One day back on a college campus who knew how refreshing it would be to go back to the classroom and I can only look back and ask what I missed at the other 16 sessions I didn’t attend. BlogOrlando the Unconference was worth every minute.
It appears that this social media is recreating conversations from the way we communicate to the way even corporate America is hiring. Looking for a job or new network?
