365 Orlando 200. New Years Eve in Celebration

It’s time to say good by to 2010 and welcome 2011 in Orlando.  Celebration Town Center will be hosting a family friendly fun event.  The night will start off with a performance by VonRay and Mo Geetz Band.  There will be other live music acts as you stroll along the streets of Celebrations.  The children will have fun bouncing in the bounce houses and playing games.  The ice rink will be open so bring your skates and take a spin around the ice.  Hope in a carriage for a horse drawn carriage ride around the town of Celebration.

The kids will enjoy playing in the fall snow at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00 PM or taking a ride on the newly renovated Celebration Express Train.  Join in the countdown to midnight with the crowd then sit back and enjoy the fireworks spectacular.  Enjoy a family fun New Years Eve in Orlando this year.

365 Orlando 199. Music at the Casa

musicatthecasaimageSpend an afternoon listening to the wonderful music of Joshua Englert a classic guitarist and the beautiful Flamenco dancing of Jenny and Ernesto Caballero.  This wonderful event will be held at Casa Feliz on Sunday December 19th from 2-3pm.  Orlando is home to many talented musicians and this event is a great opportunity for you and your family to experience some of this talent.

This historic home is open at noon for tours of the house.  You will enjoy seeing the renovated Spanish Farmhouse, where the outside features whitewashed century-old bricks and Spanish roof tiles.  The inside has been meticulously restored to its former beauty.

365 Orlando 198. Holidays at Universal Orlando

Come see the Macy’s parade right in Orlando at Universal Studios.  Dusk every night experience the excitement of the Macy’s parade balloons and floats.  The parade will also feature marching bands, street performers and also an appearance by Santa Clause.  After enjoying the parade head on over to the new Holiday Village, where you can browse crafts made by local artisans, and there will also be holiday music you can sing along with.

 If you want a little Grinch in your Christmas head on over to Universal’s Island of Adventure and enjoy Grinchmas.  Don’t miss seeing a live version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, and after wards you can have your picture take with the Grinch himself.  If you want to spend even more time with the Grinch you can book a Holiday Character Breakfast with the Grinch and his friends.

Enjoy being able to see the Macy’s parade right here in Orlando at Universal Studios and the Grinch at Universal’s Island of Advenutre.

365 Orlando 197. Holidays at the Waterhouse

Step back in time to 1884 to see how the residents of the Orlando area celebrated the holidays.  The Waterhouse Residence Museum is decorated for the holidays with classic Victorian style.  As guests are lead through the home on a guided tour they will enjoy the Victorian Christmas trees, and other beautiful decorations.  The decorations also include some Floridian inspired decorations.  While on your tour keep a look out for the annual holiday visitor to the house, the Waterhouse Mouse.

This wonderful home was originally built by carpenter William Waterhouse.  This holiday season experience all the charms of a Victorian holiday in Orlando.

365 Orlando 196. Light up UCF

Get in the holiday spirit in Orlando at the UCF Arena, where they have decked out the arena.  They have used around 75,000 lights that will be synchronized to holiday music.  After enjoying the lights you can head on over to the Ice Rink Pavilion. You can take a spin around the ice while listening to holiday music.  This is the largest outdoor ice rink in Orlando.  Take the plunge down the 100 feet ice luge on sled discs.

This year they will have some new attractions that the entire family will love.  Jump on the Farris Wheel and Kris Kringle’s Carousel for a spin.  Santa will be at his workshop so make stop by to get your photo taken.  You can even hop on board the Holiday Santa Train for a ride through a winter wonderland. 

This event has something that everyone in the family will enjoy.  Make a trip to Orlando’s UCF Arena a new holiday tradition.

365 Orlando 195. Holiday Parades

A fun thing about living in Orlando over the holiday season is watching boat parade and there are two floating by this Saturday December 11th.  The first will be held on the St. Johns River starting at 6pm from the Catfish Bend (Marker 36) and will travel south and finish around 8pm at the end of Lake Bereford.  You can watch from a few different places along the way, including Ed Stone Park and the Lake Beresford Yacht Club.  The other great boat parade will be in Winter Park, where you will enjoy holiday theme lighted boats as the float past the shorelines of lakes Virginia and Osceola.  There will be pre-parade activities will be held at the Albin Polasek Museum, which will include music, food and parking.  Another location you can watch the boat parade is at Dinky Dock.

You can also head down to Old Town Kissimmee where the streets will be turned into a “North Pole Fantasy” and at 6pm the Festival of Lights Parade will begin.  The Kissimmee Civic Center will be offering VIP seating and from 2pm until 5pm you can visit with Santa.

There are a few different options this weekend for some holiday fun in the Orlando area, so no matter what side of town you are on you can find something fun to do.

365 Orlando 194. Seaworld’s Christmas Celebration

Come out to Seaworld and celebrate the holidays with some of you wet friends.  Orlando is home to some wonderful sea animals and you can celebrate with holiday shows.  Shamu is getting in the holiday sprit with the Christmas miracles show and Clyde and Seamore the sea lions help you Countdown to Christmas.  Sesame Street is decked out for the holidays but Abby Cadabby is having trouble understanding what it’s all about.  Elmo and the other caracters help her understand what Christmas is all about in a fun sing-a-long.  The water will be frozen at the ice rink where skater will put on the Winter Wonderland show.  There is even a Polar Express Experience where you little one can hope on board for a trip to the North Polo and a visit with Santa.

End off your evening with fireworks choreographed to holiday music.  The holidays are coming alive in the Orlando area so get out and enjoy this celebration.

365 Orlando 193. Celebration a Cracker Christmas

Christmas-Tree-Antique-Ornaments-HTOURS1206-de-22528090Step back in time at the Osceola County Historical Society to celebrate Christmas the way they did in Orlando back in the 1800s.  The houses will be decorated in the simple fashion of the time.  Your guide will tell you stories of how the families celebrated Christmas on a Cracker homestead.  The kids will enjoy learning the games that children played in the 1800s and the traditions of their Christmastime. 

The village will be celebrating a Cracker Christmas the weekend of December 18th and 19th.  See how the early inhabitants of Orlando got ready for the holiday season at the Pioneer Village.

365 Orlando 192. Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships

Over 400 cheer/dance squads will gather in Orlando next week to compete at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.  The squads will be in town to compete for the Pop Warner National Championship, and they will compete in age group brackets and also skill level.  The squads competing have won 1st or 2nd place at their regional competitions this year.  This will be an exciting competition that the entire family will enjoy.  These kids have worked very hard to get to this level so come out and cheer them on as compete for the National Championship. 

The cheering and dancing begins on Monday December 6th and runs through Friday at the ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando.

365 Orlando 191. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra in Orlando

Orlando will be welcoming Trans-Siberian Orchestra on December 12th for a show at the Amway Center from 3pm until 7pm.  This show is a wonderful way to get your entire family in to the holiday spirit, with its great music and use of synchronized lighting.  Trans-Siberian Orchestra has been ranked as one of top touring groups. 

This exciting concert will keep everyone engaged for the entire show.  The Trans-Siberian Orchestra will only be in Orlando for one day so don’t miss out on December 12th.
