As Halloween approaches it’s time to figure out where there is to trick or treat around Orlando. Many places are offering trick or treating on Saturday October 30. If you are in downtown Orlando on Saturday you can stop by Lake Eola Park where your kids will be able to get treats from 10am to 4pm. Waterford Lakes Town Center will be decorated as a Haunted House where the kids can trick or treat on Saturday evening from 4pm-7pm.
If you are looking for something to do on Sunday here are a few things going on in the Orlando area. In the city of Altamonte Springs they are hosting their annual Halloween at Cranes Roost where local businesses will be sponsoring booths to hand out candy for the children. You can take the kids to Downtown Sanford you and your children can stroll down the historic streets and trick or treat at the downtown merchants from 6-8pm. Even your fur babies can have fun this Halloween with pet trick or treating and a costume contest at the Park Avenue Pet Costume Contest from 10am-3pm.
This autumn in Orlando Epcot is hosting the International Food and Wine Festival. As you walk along the World Showcase Promenade there will be special market places that will feature regional foods, wines and beers. Also featured this year are celebrity chefs who will be doing book signings, so make sure you check the schedule on your way in to the park. Don’t miss the Eat to Beat concert series where Starship will be performing this Friday October 29th starting at 5:15pm. Guest will enjoy the new taste form Belgium and South Korea.
Enjoy even more international flair in Orlando at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.
Some mysteries things have happened in the past around Orlando you can learn about a few of them at the Osceola County Historical Society. As you are on your tour you will learn about Nick Pearce, who was a barber in Narocoosse who did more than just cut his customers hair. Legend has it that he was a murder who died in the Barber-Mizell feud. There was also a young school teacher in the area, who was hiding a very shocking past. Your tour guide will take you on an evening walking tour where you will encounter the “lost souls” of our area. So be prepared for some spine tingling fun, where you will also learn more about the mysteries past of the Orlando area.
The tour will take place on Saturday October 30th from 7-9pm, there will also be refreshments and snacks included.

Stop by the Orlando Bass Pro Shop for its celebration of Halloween and to see if you can catch a glimpse of The Great Pumpkin. On Friday October 29th bring the kids for trick or treating through out the store from 4-8 pm. Don’t worry if you forget the treat bag because kids can decorate a Peanuts trick or treat bag from 4-6pm. Make sure you get there early because supplies are limited. At 6pm there will be a costume parade for all the kids to participate in, and there will be prizes awarded to participants. Your child will even be able to download a picture of themselves with The Great Pumpkin.
Friday afternoon head on out to the Bass Pro Shop in Orlando and see if you can find The Great Pumpkin.
Lurking just outside of Orlando is A Petrified Forest, where horror is waiting for you around every corner. This fun Haunted Village is an interactive fright fest that you can enjoy with your friends. You’re first stop is through a dilapidated school bus and then off to a bloody slaughterhouse. The use of real-life items will have you screaming down the aisles. All these great effects were created by talented local artists.
This Petrified Forest opens on Wednesday and is open until Halloween, so make the trip from Orlando to be truly petrified.
Even the Orlando adventure companies are getting into the Halloween spirit, including Forever Florida. Be prepared to be scared on the Screamline Haunted Zipline, where you will be zipping 55’ above the forest floor. As you soar be mindful of the swamp witch and the spirits that are lurking in the forest. They also offer a Haunted Coach Safari that will take you out in search of the undead. Or if you would like to see the haunts up close take the Woods Walk. For the littler ones they will offer hay rides and a not so scary kids zone, don’t forget to dress up your little ghost and goblins for the costume contest. There are many different adventures offered at Forever Florida so everyone will have a howling good time.

There are some scary creatures lurking around Orlando, some of them are at Silver Springs. As you enter Fright Night 2010, your first stop will be Terror Island, where you should be prepared to be scared. Take a walk through the Spirits of the Swamp Cemetery and be careful as you look over the tombstones. Watch where you are standing as the Zombie’s, Ghosts and other scary creatures begin the Pirate’s Processional. Feeling a little under the weather, well head on over to the Voodoo Bayou where the Witch Doctor is in. There is also a live animal show called the Creature’s of Carnage Show. Open every Friday and Saturday from 8pm until 11pm.
Orlando is really getting into the Halloween spirit this year and this is one frightening event going on this weekend.
Looking for something kid friendly this Halloween in Orlando? Then head on over to Magic Kingdom theme park and add on the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Let the kids dress up in their costumes and collect candy around the park. Don’t miss the “Boo-To-You” parade which will be lead by the Headless Horseman. Enjoy your favorite Disney characters dress in special Halloween costumes. After all this fun around the park enjoy a special fireworks show. This party is being held through out special areas in the park that will be decorated with special lighting, music and special effects.

Everyone around Orlando is getting a spooky this year including Seaworld. Stop by Seaworld Spooktacular for some spooky fun with the animals. Feel safe bringing your little ghost and goblins to Seaworld for trick or treating through out the park at 14 different treasure station. Dance to a cool beat with the interactive ice DJ in the Frozen Fun Zone. Make sure your kids have their eyes banana peeled as the wonder through the park because just around the next bend might be Gummy Worm Wanda or Swedish Fish Suzy or one of many other sea creatures. Even Elmo is getting in to Halloween in the Sesame Street show “Countdown to Halloween”
This event is going on this weekend October 23-24 and October 29-31st and begins each day at 12 noon. So if you are looking for something a little different this year while your celebrating Halloween in Orlando, then you don’t want to miss the Seaworld Spooktacular.
This weekend Orlando will host the 8th Orlando Home Show at the Orange County Convention Center. This year will feature Celebrity guest John Gidding from HGTV’s show Curb Appeal, The Block And Christopher Straub from season 6 of Project Runway. Stop by the Edible Orlando cooking stage where top local chefs will be doing cooking demonstrations and giving out cooking tips. On Friday bring your little ones for some ghouls fun like a free picture in the pumpkin patch. There will be many different exhibitors in a number of categories including, home improvement, remolding services, landscaping, pools & spas, custom cabinets, tile & marble and many, many more.
