365 Orlando: 68. Take a Flight with Waldo Wright’s Flying Service

Step back in time to the 1930’s with an authentic barnstorming ride in a New Standard D-25 with Waldo Wright’s Flying Service.  These planes can carry 4 passengers in the front open cockpit, introducing many to their first airplane ride when aviation was still in its infancy. You can experience flight just as people did in the 1930’s with this Orlando biplane experience.  They also offer a private flight in a legendary Boeing Streerman.  The Stearman was the primary trainer of WWII.  These flying experiences offered by Waldo Wright’s will surly be an experience of a lifetime.

Spend a fun day canoeing at Wekiva Springs State Park near Orlando for an adventure you will not forget.  On this great adventure you will be exposed to a variety of wildlife including alligators, Florida black bears, white-tailed deer, river otters, and fox.  As you float along keep a look out for great blue herons, great egrets, little blue herons, tricolored herons and swallow-tailed kites.  And if you listen closely you may even here the pecking of a woodpecker.  You will be kept cool as you row by the centuries-old oak trees that line the river’s banks.  After your trip you can cool off in the crystal clear waters of the springs that pump out 42 million gallons of cool fresh watch each day!

365 Orlando: 68. Catch a Venom Show at Reptile World Serpentarium

Orlando is home to one of the world’s leading venom farms and they let you watch as they extract the venom from the snakes.  Reptile World Serpentarium has hundreds of venomous snakes that are milked on a daily basis for their valuable venom.  The precious commodity is then shipped worldwide for use in medical and herpetological research.  You will be able to view the snakes sinking their fangs into a membrane stretched over a collection glass and watch as the venom is released.  Snake handlers perform the milking of the different snakes, which include coral snakes, rattlers and cobras, twice a day.  While visiting Reptile World you will also be able to see snakes from right here in Florida as well as more exotic and deadly snakes, like the Australian Taipan.  There are also six species of cobra and eleven kinds of rattlesnakes.

You will be amazed by the venom show at Reptile World in Orlando.

365 Orlando: 66. Enjoy the Equestrians of Arabian Nights Dinner Attraction

orlando.0315tr6This is one Orlando dinner experience you do not want to miss. Enjoy a fun filled night at Arabian Nights, where you will see a variety of astounding feats on horseback. To begin your evening you will be entertained by a belly dancer, and if you are willing you can go up on stage with her to dance! Once you are seated for your meal the show really begins with more than 20 of the most talented equestrians in the world. For dinner you will have a choice of sirloin steak, grilled chicken breast, certified black angus chopped steak, vegetarian lasagna, and pork tenderloin with marsala sauce. There are two shows nightly at 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm for your convenience. Come and be amazed by the performers at Arabian Nights in Orlando.

365 Orlando: 65. Pick up Farm Fresh Vegetables at the Downtown Farmers’ Market

farmers marketLooking for fresh ingredients for Sunday night dinner? Then head on down to the Downtown Orlando Farmers’ Market at Lake Eola Park. You will be able to choose the freshest ingredients from local farmers. Some examples of what you can expect to find are: tomatoes, carrots, oranges, local honey and many other local items. There is also a Wine and Beer Garden where you can choose the best wine or beer for your meal. The kids will enjoy talking to the local farmers about how they raise their fresh herbs, vegetables and fruits. As you wonder the booths you will be entertained by live musicians. Don’t forget to grab some kettle corn to snack on. You are able to get fresh produce every Sunday from 10 am -4 pm in Downtown Orlando at Lake Eola Park. Pick out your favorite summer recipe and head on out to the Downtown Orlando Farmers Market.

365 Orlando: 64. Ride an ATV at Revolution

Orlando offers one of the premier off road experiences at Revolution The Off Road Experience. You will start off your ATV experience by learning how to safely ride your ATV by a ASI (American Safety Institute) trained instructor. Revolution offers different tracks for different levels of experience. If you are a beginner you will start off on relatively flatter tracks, but remember that you will be off-road so expect some bumps and dips. For the more experienced rider they off more “challenging” areas, which include a number of inclines, sand holes, water splash and hills. This is an adventure but remember that the main theme is fun so you will never be push to do anything you really don’t want to do. You will need to wear shoes that fully cover your toes, and long pants. Revolution provides you with a DOT (Department of Transport) safety approved helmet, gloves and goggles. This experience fills up so make your reservations early.

365 Orlando: 63. Play a Round of Miniature Golf at Congo River Golf

congo river golf1Orlando’s International Drive is home to Congo River Golf where you can explore giant waterfalls, rocky summits, mysterious caves and tropical rainforests while you enjoy an exciting game of miniature golf. They also provide a gator feeding experience like no other. So grab a pole and step right up to feed the more than 25 live gators. There is also an opportunity to mine for gemstones, fossils, and arrowheads. They provide you with mining materials to help you sift through the sluice to find your one-of-a-kind item. Head on down to Orlando’s International Drive location of Congo River Golf for a family adventure the kids are sure to love.

365 Orlando: 62. Lunch at the Yellow Dog Eats

yellow-dog-eatsEnjoy lunch at the Yellow Dog Eats near Orlando. This great restaurant is located in an old country store building. The restaurant offers sandwiches, salads, and bar-b-que. The café also offers take-outs and Fish’s own bottled bar-b-que sauces. The shelves are also full of jams, jellies, preserves, and salsas. You can also enjoy art by some really good artist including the original painting that gave the place it’s name. Bring along a picture of your dog to hang on the wall with other patrons dog pictures. Outside in the backyard you will find a nice garden of beautiful flowers. The Yellow Dog Eats puts the fun back in dining. So make the short drive from Orlando and enjoy a great lunch from chef Fish Morgan.

365 Orlando: 61. Make a Splash at Wet’n Wild

Visit Orlando’s most exciting waterpark, Wet’n Wild-Orlando. This park offers exciting thrills that will leave you breathless and wanting to take another ride. There are also a variety of multi-passenger rides, you can boogie you way down the Disco H2O with friends. Or if you crowd is younger the park offers a Kids’ Park that features smaller versions of the park’s popular adult rides. After all the excitement of your day take a break on the Lazy River. So no matter who you bring with you there is something for everyone.

Slather on some sunscreen and pack up the kids for some fun in the sun at Wet’n Wild Orlando.

 

 

365 Orlando: 60. Sing Your Heart Out at Universal CityWalk’s Rising Star

raising starOrlando’s Universal Studio is home to CityWalk’s Rising Star Karaoke Club. This is not your average karaoke club; you will be able to sing with a live band and your own backup singers. You can rock out like a rock star or sing your favorite country ballad for your live audience. The club seats 440 guest so you will feel like you are truly a star. While you are waiting to sing you can enjoy a menu of appetizers including Buffalo wings, quesadillas, potato wedges, mini sliders, and fried banana caramel cheesecake.
