Great new event in the town of Harmony the 1^st Annual Harmony Music and Arts Festival, take the short drive from Orlando and enjoy this fun festival.  Stroll around the Harmony Town Square viewing art work from a variety of artist.  This will be a juried art festival.

There will be plenty of music for everyone to enjoy on the three stages along with other performers at the festival.  Some of the performers are Good Times Jazz Band, Kenyon Lockry, Ashley Baker, Buddy Brown and many more.

Don’t forget to bring the kids to enjoy the kids area.  They will be able to work on their own art project.  They will enjoy dancing to the different types of music!  So bring the whole family out to Harmony on September 28-29 11-7pm.  This will be a great way to see the Town of Harmony outside Orlando.

Orange County Real Estate Sales Statistics – July 2013

Orange County saw 212 more homes sold in July 2013 than July 2012, a 12 percent increase. The average sales price increased by 19 percent and the median sales price increased by 22 percent from July 2012.  Market times decreased by 22 days or 15 percent.

Osceola County Real Estate Sales Statistics – July 2013

Osceola County homes saw home sales increased by 40 homes, a 7 percent increase. Prices increased with the average sales price up 22 percent and the median price increased by 21 percent.  Market Times decreased by 23 days compared to July 2012.

Seminole County Real Estate Sales Statistics – July 2013

Seminole County residential sales increased by 14 percent with 97 more homes sold in July 2013. The average sales price increased by 16 percent, and the median sales price increased by 18 percent compared to July 2012 levels. Market times decreased by 25 days or 17 percent.

Lake County Real Estate Sales Statistics – July 2013

Residential sales in Lake County increased with 126 more homes sold a 23 percent increase. The average sales price increased by 15 percent, and the median sales price increased by 18 percent for the month compared to July 2012.  Market times decreased by 22 days.

Polk County Real Estate Sales Statistics – July 2013

Polk County saw 98 more homes sold in July 2013 compared to July 2012.  The average sales price increased by 12 percent, and the median sales price increased by 16 percent.  Market times decreased by 13 days compared to July 2012.

Do your kids want to learn more about music in a fun way?  Then join Central Florida Community Arts School of Performing Arts as the offer Magical Melodies for Kids.  This workshop on Saturday August 24^th will jumpstarts your children’s introduction to music.  Rachael Rutherford will be conducting this workshop in Orlando from 10am to 11am.

Have you thought of acting at some point in your life?  But you didn’t know where to get started in Orlando.  Come by the Central Florida Community Arts School of Performing Arts for a Half-Day Acting Intensive.  Carol Saragusa and some of her friends will be creating a mini play from start to finish.  They will help you learn how to read lines with inflection and emotion, and how to get into the character.  This will be a great workshop to help get started on your way to acting.

Carol Saragusa has been with Disney’s America Idol and has a background  in acting and performance training.  This workshop will be lots of fun and informative for Teens and adults age 16 and up.  You will need to bring a notebook and a pencil.  Bring lunch to enjoy at the break the class will run from 9:30-4:00pm on August 31st.  This will be a fun way to step into acting in Orlando.  Sign up today.

Central Florida Community Arts in Orlando is presenting The music of Rodgers & Hammerstein: The Golden Age of Musical Theater.  Join them on August 9^th and 10^th at 7:30pm and on August 11 at 6:30 pm for a night of music.  Members of the Central Florida Community Arts will be singing songs from popular Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals such as South Pacific, The King and I, The Sound of Music and Carousel.

Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II were the composing team that brought musical theater to life and created some of the greatest performances of the 20^th century!  These two began what is now known as the Golden Age of Musical Theater!  This show will highlight some of the wonderful songs they composed.  Spending an evening in Orlando enjoying the efforts of these two wonderful composers!

Orlando and the surrounding Florida area is rich in history and some of it’s a little strange!  Join the Orange County Regional History Center as they welcome author Jeff Klinkenberg for a discussion of his book “Alligators in B-Flat: Improbable Tales From the Files of The Real Florida”.  Jeff’s book takes you through the sunshine state on a different type of historical journey.  He explores the contradictions that make up the unique history of Florida through fishing camps, country stores, museums, and libraries.  One little oddity that he notes is that male alligators will answer a B-flat chord with a thunderous bellow!

Jeff is a Florida native who has been working for newspapers since the age of 16.  You will enjoy seeing this different side of Florida through this book.  Come out to the Orange County Regional History Center on August 17^th from 1pm to 2:30pm in Orlando.
