365 Orlando 187. Come see Snow in Celebration

Wonder where you can see it snow in Orlando?  Well head on out to Celebration for the 12th annual snowing event, it will be snowing at 6, 7, 8 and 9pm.  Enjoy the caroling by the strolling Charles Dickens Carolers.  Bring your little figure skater for a spin around the ice rink that is open daily from 4-10pm.  On Saturday November 27th from 5:30-9pm join them for the Tree Lighting Ceremony which will feature live music and a special entrance by Santa Claus.  This will be a fun family event.  Don’t miss the horse draw carriage rides and hop on board the Celebration Express train. 

Bring the kids out to see snow in Orlando and see the lighting of the tree.

365 Orlando 186. Experience the Holidays Around the World at Epcot

Epcot in Orlando has been transformed to show how the holidays are celebrated around the world.  Every evening join in as a celebrity narrator tells the Christmas story with a 50 piece orchestra and a mass choir during the Candlelight Processional at the American Gardens Theatre.  This is a wonderful way to get in the holiday spirit, but this event is so popular it fills up quickly.  To ensure that you will have a seat for the event you may wish to add on the Candlelight Dinner Package that includes a delicious dinner, your seating for the event and prearranged fireworks viewing. 

This is a great way to get everyone ready for the holidays in Orlando.  Bring the whole family for a fun day at the park then stay for this spectacular event.

365 Orlando 185. Take a Holiday Home Tour

pinewoodStart off your Orlando holiday with a tour of the 1930s Pinewood Estate at Bok Tower Gardens.  This year is special because the designers and volunteers have decorated with their fondest holiday memories and have even used their own family ornaments. As you enter the beautiful 1930s Mediterranean-style home you will notice the handmade Victorian ornaments for the “Victorian Reflections” room.  In the Pantry you will be remind of “Sweet Memories” from grandma’s kitchen.  Move on to the Dinning room for “Santa’s Dinner” where the table has been set for their meal.  In the Living room you will enjoy music by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra as you wonder at the forest of trees that surround this room.

Head upstairs where you will find more trees these decorated to showcase decades of different trends as the “Parade of Trees”.  In the bedrooms you will also find unique designs like the “Country Christmas” and “A Little Girl’s Dreams”. 

As you wander around the house keep an eye out for the more than 200 red and white poinsettias.  Don’t miss out on this Orlando Estate that has been beautifully decorated for the holidays.

365 Orlando 184. Disney’s Junior Soccer Showcase

Starting the day after Thanksgiving in Orlando the Disney’s Junior Soccer Showcase will be played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.  This tournament gives younger kids the opportunity to experience competition with a top notch organization.  The teams will have 3 game minimum, certified referees, access to athletic trainer’s on-site and game balls.  There will be awards presented for the 1st -4th places teams. 

This is a family friendly fun event going on the weekend after Thanksgiving in Orlando.  Come out and cheer on these young players as the work on be coming better soccer players.

365 Orlando 183. 21st Annual Seniors First Turkey Trot 5k

Before you sit down to that rich and delicious thanksgiving fest take a trot around Orlando’s Lake Eola Park.  The 21st Annual Seniors first Turkey Trot 5 k starts at 8am and runners are encouraged to bring a little Thanksgiving to the race.  Have a turkey costume at home and you don’t know what to do with it, then wear it to the race.  If all you have is a cute turkey hat that would also be fun to run beside, you could also tie on your favorite pilgrim apron.  There will be lots of cute and funny thanksgiving related outfits running this year all in good fun to raise money for Meals on Wheels and other programs that support Orlando area seniors.

There will also be a Tot Trot starting at 9:15, so don’t miss out on this fun Orlando Thanksgiving tradition.

365 Orlando 182. Dining out for Thanksgiving Dinner

thanksgiving-turkey-buffet-tableOrlando is home to many wonderful restaurants and some of them are hosting Thanksgiving dinner.  So get mom out of the kitchen and take her out on the town instead.

Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Buffet along with beautiful views of the Royal St. Cloud Golf Links at The Royal Crest Room.  They offer reservations for seating form 11:30 until 6pm and includes a carving station and decadent desserts. 

You can head down to Mount Dora and enjoy dinner at the Beauclaire Restaurant at Lakeside Inn.  As you enjoy your dinner there will be live piano music for your enjoyment.  They are taking reservations for seating from 11am until 4pm. 

Enjoy live jazz music while you dine at The Tropicale at Caribe Royale Orlando.  They are offering a traditional Thanksgiving Buffet from 2pm until 8pm.  Reservations are being taken now for this fun holiday dinner.

jingle bellDowntown Orlando has some great shopping opportunities and this Friday Ivanhoe Village will be hosting Jingle Eve Holiday Open House.  Come out for a festive evening of shopping with entertainment and door prizes.  Ivanhoe Village is home to more than 30 specialty and antique shops, so you will surly be able to find something for everyone on your shopping list.  You can take a break from all the shopping and grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants.

Don’t miss this exciting evening of shopping on November 19th from 6-10pm at Ivanhoe Village in Orlando.  You will be able to drop off your Toys for Tots during this event.

365 Orlando 180. See Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.

The Fiddler on the Roof comes to the Orlando area, but with a young twist.  It’s actually the actors who are young in this production of Fiddler on the Roof, Jr. at Osceola Center for the Arts. Children ages 12-15 will be putting on this fun production of dairyman Tevye.  Witness Tevye’s life as he tries to instill the traditions of their small village on his five daughters. 

The performances will be held on November 19th at 7pm, November 20th at 2pm and 7pm and one performance on November 21 at 2pm.  Don’t miss this family friendly musical playing right here in the Orlando area.

downtown disney christmasOrlando comes to life for the holidays in Downtown Disney, all of the shops have decked the halls and are ready for you to start your holiday shopping.  As you wonder down the street you will enjoy performances of your favorite holiday songs by carolers.  You can also enjoy Latin, Jazz or Pop music performances in the weeks leading up to the holidays.  The specialty shops in Downtown Disney will ensure that you can find unique gifts for everyone on your list.  There will also be Reindeer and Toy Solider Stiltwalkers and street performers. 

Don’t forget to stop into Santa’s Chalet and have your picture taken with the jolly elf.  Spend the day having fun while you get that holiday shopping list taken care of in Orlando at Downtown Disney.

365 Orlando 178. Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner at Forever Florida

happy_thanksgivingflorida-eco-safari-webSpend Thanksgiving this year enjoying wild Orlando at Forever Florida.  The Cypress Restaurant will be serving up a full Thanksgiving dinner on November 25th.  Now don’t worry none of the wild turkeys on location were harmed in the making of this meal but you will be able to enjoy a Cajun rubbed smoked turkey breast or herb crusted oven roasted turkey breast.  There will also be all the fixing to go with your bird of choice.  Remember to leave room for one of the southern inspired deserts after your meal.  When you have had your fill relax on wraparound porch in of the rocking chairs as you gaze over the lovely land.

When you are ready for a little adventure then take the family on a ecosafari through the beautiful conservation lands.  This year do something different for your Orlando Thanksgiving and give mom a break in the kitchen head to the Cypress Restaurant for a wonderful meal.
