365 Orlando 178. Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner at Forever Florida

happy_thanksgivingflorida-eco-safari-webSpend Thanksgiving this year enjoying wild Orlando at Forever Florida.  The Cypress Restaurant will be serving up a full Thanksgiving dinner on November 25th.  Now don’t worry none of the wild turkeys on location were harmed in the making of this meal but you will be able to enjoy a Cajun rubbed smoked turkey breast or herb crusted oven roasted turkey breast.  There will also be all the fixing to go with your bird of choice.  Remember to leave room for one of the southern inspired deserts after your meal.  When you have had your fill relax on wraparound porch in of the rocking chairs as you gaze over the lovely land.

When you are ready for a little adventure then take the family on a ecosafari through the beautiful conservation lands.  This year do something different for your Orlando Thanksgiving and give mom a break in the kitchen head to the Cypress Restaurant for a wonderful meal.

0107-florida-orange-grove-18Orlando is the number 1 citrus producing area in the United States so why not take advantage of being able to pick your own fresh fruit.  Ridge Island Groves is a small family farm that has been growing citrus for over 40 years.  Stop by for a farm tour, fresh squeezed orange juice and while you’re out in the grove you can pick your own citrus.  Your family will enjoy fruit at it’s freshest, along with the beautiful setting. 

During the month of November they be will picking Navel, Red Navel, Page, Tangerines and Ruby Red.  Make sure you add citrus picking to your list of things to do in Orlando this fall.

Get a start on your holiday shopping in Downtown Kissimmee at the Arts, Crafts & Antiques Festival.  The Orlando area is home to many great artist and crafters creating wonderful gift options.  This festival will give you the perfect opportunity to shop for many unique items for those hard to buy for people on your list.  The festival will take place in historic Downtown Kissimmee where you will also be able to stop in at the local shops and restaurants.

The Festival is being held on November 20th from 9am – 3 pm at Toho Square.  Spend sometime visiting the historic area near Orlando seeing the wonderful things the talented artist and crafters have created.

365 Orlando 175. Winter Park Harvest Festival

Want to learn more about local farming around the Orlando area?  Then head over to Winter Park on November 20th for the Harvest Festival held at Central Park’s West Meadow.  There will be a farmers’ market where you will be able to shop from local farmers for your Thanksgiving dinner supplies.  Learn more about organic gardening at the workshop sessions being offered at the festival.  There will also be cooking demonstrations at the Park Ave. Williams Sonoma store, where you can learn how to prepare different dishes. 

The kids will enjoy the youth focused sessions and games going on during the day.  They will also be able to have hands on experience with the do-it-yourself gardening.   

At the Festival they offer a Farm to Table Dinner, which will feature 3 Hors d’oeuvre stations and 5 delicious courses.  All of these wonderful dishes will be prepared by local chefs using local suppliers.  The dinner will be served under a tent on the lawn of the park, featuring music by local bluegrass musicians. 

Spend a wonderful autumn day with friends at the Harvest Festival learning more about local foods of the Orlando area.

cevHead to Downtown Orlando this weekend where you will be able to enjoy fabulous Spanish Tapas at Ceviche.  Tapas are a fun way to enjoy dinner with friends and be able to experience many different Spanish flavors.  During your dining experience you will be able to choose from over 100 different tapas, which will include fresh meats and seafood.  Some of the wonderful meats you will enjoy are quail, oxtail, lamb ribs and many more.  Many of the ingredients are imported from Spain to make sure the dishes are authentic.  As you dine, you will have the opurtunity to enjoy live flamenco music.

The Ceviche is located in the Historic Church Street Station in Orlando.  Make plans to visit with friends to enjoy this fun dining experience.

Spend some time in Downtown Orlando at Lake Eola, for the Orlando Food & Wine Fest.  You will be able to enjoy food from 36 Orlando area restaurants which will be paired with international wines.  There will also be cooking demonstrations by local chefs.  Enjoy the musical sounds of Fourplay, War, Loria Brothers, and other jazz music on The Widmer Main Stage.  Don’t worry about missing your favorite sports game because you will be able to watch them at the Sports bar.  The fest will be held at Lake Eola on Saturday November 13th and 14th.

Enjoy the fall weekend at the Orlando Food & Wine Fest, where there is a little something for everyone.

winterparkLearn more about the first centrally planned community in the Orlando area on the Winter Park History Tour.  The tour is operated by Cando Event Planning under the name of Florida Cultural Tours who strives to offer educational and cultural tours of the Orlando area.  Your tour will take you to the Morse Museum, which is home to a large winter-park-fullcollection of Tiffany glass.  As you travel around Winter Park you will enjoy the exclusive homes of the area.  On Park Avenue you will be able to dine at one of the restaurants lining the Avenue.  At the Hannibal Square Museum you will learn about the history of the African American community in the Winter Park area.  Your tour also includes a Scenic Boat Tour which will take you around the local lakes and canals.

The music of Rodgers & Hammerstein is coming to Orlando in South Pacific being performed at the Osceola Center until November 7th.  Enjoy this wonderful musical set in the South Pacific during World War II.  The songs from this musical are well known all over the world, like “ I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair” and “Some Enchanted Evening”.  You don’t want to miss this production of an extraordinary musical. 

You will be able to enjoy this great musical in Orlando until next weekend only, so make sure you make time to see this musical this week.

365 Orlando 168. Trick or Treating in Orlando

trick-or-treatersAs Halloween approaches it’s time to figure out where there is to trick or treat around Orlando.  Many places are offering trick or treating on Saturday October 30.  If you are in downtown Orlando on Saturday you can stop by Lake Eola Park where your kids will be able to get treats from 10am to 4pm.  Waterford Lakes Town Center will be decorated as a Haunted House where the kids can trick or treat on Saturday evening from 4pm-7pm.  halloween-dogs-trick-or-treat

If you are looking for something to do on Sunday here are a few things going on in the Orlando area.  In the city of Altamonte Springs they are hosting their annual Halloween at Cranes Roost where local businesses will be sponsoring booths to hand out candy for the children.  You can take the kids to Downtown Sanford you and your children can stroll down the historic streets and trick or treat at the downtown merchants from 6-8pm.  Even your fur babies can have fun this Halloween with pet trick or treating and a costume contest at the Park Avenue Pet Costume Contest from 10am-3pm.
