Come 2 Anguilla
December 4th, 2006 by tisnerCome 2 Anguilla, Donate a Book
Some years ago, a teacher from the United States who had been a visitor to Anguilla for many years, wanted to say "thank you" for all her pleasant vacations on that island. So she donated a bag of books to one of the local schools.
The thank-you of books continued with each of her trips. Then she thought, well, what if every hotel guest brought a book and donated it to a school, what if a book was donated by every visitor?
Five years later, the idea has now been expanded so books can be shipped. The Anguilla Post Office forwards the books. The Anguilla Community Foundation and Caribbean Cable Communications Ltd. help pay some of the shipping costs.
The address to send books to is: Alwyn Allison Primary School, 7150 N.W. 36th Ave./Ang. Post Ocean, Miami, FL, 33147, USA This idea has taken off and Island Books in Anguilla runs a poster contest for local students encouraging reading.
There are also many lots for sale on the island, some with ocean views, some with golf course frontage. Call Team Leader, Teri Isner, at 407-467-5155 for more information. Come 2 Anguilla, put a book in your bag and bring it along.
