According to the National Association of Realtors™ (NAR) 2015 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, single women made up 18% of all first-time homebuyers last year, second only to married couples who made up 54% of total buyers. Whether they are young, single and no longer want to rent, or newly divorced, the amount of single women becoming homeowners greatly outnumbers single males (11%). A survey of recent home buyers revealed some interesting trends about this rapidly growing group:
Average Age: 32 years old
Average Income: $49,400
Single women are more likely to become preapproved for a mortgage in order to know their budget at the beginning of the home buying process and to be able to make a move if they find their dream home.
Many female homebuyers think long-term when considering buying a home, often considering what amenities they may need in the near future.
So what do women like best about homeownership? They believe that they are investing in their future by building equity and financial security. They are also very happy to no longer be paying their landlord’s mortgage payment. Being independent and having control over their environment is a key factor.
It appears that it is not marriage before mortgage any longer, for either gender. As we reported yesterday, unmarried couples make up 13% of buyers, while single males account for 11%.

To show our city’s strength, I invite you all to join me next week at Lake Eola, at sunset, to silently honor and remember the events that transpired on the early morning of Sunday 12 June 2016. The City Beautiful was victim to the largest single mass shooting in our nation’s history. All I ask is one lap around the lake, starting and ending on the corner of 512 E Washington St Orlando, FL 32801, where we will leave our candles and set up a memorial. I encourage everyone bring candles, cups and or flowers to leave behind. I will personally provide about 100 but thousands have been offered as donations. If everyone brought something to share that would be nice to show our community’s strength and support one another. Everyone is encouraged to bring flowers, candles, customs signs of peace (nothing political this is just as sign of love for those loss) , Flags of any peaceful Country/ organization/ branch of service, etc.

The Silver Spurs Rodeo will kick off the start of summer with performances on June 10th and 12th! Both performances are put on by the Silver Spurs Club, a local 501(c)(5) nonprofit formed more than 70 years ago. The Silver Spurs Rodeo will include traditional rodeo events including bull riding, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and team roping. To keep our rodeo’s traditions, there will be the calf scramble for the children to participate in during the rodeo.
The Wrangler Champions Challenge presented by Justin Boots is a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) event that is hosted by the Silver Spurs Club. This performance is a one-night header with the seven standard PRCA events: tie-down roping, team roping, steer roping, barrel racing (women only), bull riding, bronc riding, and saddle bronc riding. The biggest difference between the Wrangler Champions Challenge and the Silver Spurs Rodeo is that the Champions Challenge is the fifth stop of the 2016 series of eight single-round rodeo performances. During this performance, top cowboys are pitted against the best livestock and are competing for their share of $128,000 in prize money!
