Things to do Orlando: Florida Citrus Bowl Demolition Ceremony

citrus-bowl-1024x768Come out and celebrate with the City of Orlando at the Demolition of the Florida Citrus Bowl Ceremony.  Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and Florida Citrus Sports a throwing a party of sorts to kick off the demolition of the lower bowl of the stadium!  At this celebration they will be showing off the all-new features of the New and Improved Florida Citrus Bowl!

The original stadium was built in 1936 as a public works project under President Franklin D. Roosevelt.  The stadium has been renovated over the years but the time has come for a major demolition and reconstruction.  Some of the new features will include; a newly constructed lower bowl, 360-degree main concourse, multiple LED video displays, new lower bowl seating, and much more.  Head down to the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando on January 29th at 10:00 am for ceremony held down on the field of the stadium.  Don’t forget to dress as if you are headed to a construction site.

365 Things to do Orlando: Florida Citrus Parade

Head to Downtown Orlando on December 30th for the Florida Citrus Parade starting at 10 am and enjoy a fun morning with your family.  The grandstand and broadcast areas will be located on Rosalind Avenue in the heard of Orlando.  The parade is a Holiday tradition that happens every year between the Russell Athletic Bowl and the Capital One Bowl games.

You will enjoy the signature floats made of citrus fruit, the spirited high school and college bands and other special organizations participating in this year’s parade.  The will be over 3,000 participants in the parade this year.  This is one parade in Orlando you do not want to miss!

hope for the holidayCelebrate the holidays in Orlando with the Guys With Ties “Hope For the Holidays Toy Drive Event at Vanity.  This is the 8th annual toy drive with the donated toys going to Impower, a non-profit mental health and child well-being organization.  The toys you donate will go to help the families helped by Impower give their children presents they wouldn’t normally get this holiday season.

The Guys with Ties have created this event for a fun night out in Orlando at Vanity on December 14th 8:30-11pm, with a twist that will help children in need in the Orlando area!  Get in the holiday spirit of giving and have a little fun at the same time!

turkey trotAre you and your family looking for a fun way to get your Thanksgiving celebrations started in Orlando this year?  Then look no farther than the Turkey Trot, this is an Orlando tradition that includes Costumes, Turkey calls, a Tot Trot and a 5 K race.  There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy at this fun run! 

All the excitement starts at 7am with the Costume contest judging, then at 7:45am the Turkey calling judging begins.  The runners hit the course at 8am, and if running isn’t your idea of a good time they need folks to cheer them on along the course!  The little ones take off at 9:15 for the Tot Trot! 

So before you sit down to that meal of turkey, gravy, mash potatoes and pumpkin pie, get out and get moving at the Seniors First 24th Annual Turkey Trot at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando!
