Halloween Activities celebrated in Celebration Florida

Streams of cars parade along the streets to see the decorative attractions. On Halloween itself the town is jammed with residents and tourists alike trick or treating, often in elaborate costumes. Halloween goes on well into the night and residents provide trick or treaters with lots of candy!

Downtown Disney Vault 28 opening in Anaheim

Walt Disney’s Vault 28 to Sell High End Disney Apparel October 11th, is the opening of Vault 28, a high-end apparel store from the Walt Disney Co.

Unfortunately for those of us near Downtown Disney, Orlando the opening is in Downtown Disney, Anaheim…but… The Vault 28 name refers to the year of Mickey’s cartoon debut in Steamboat Willie, 1928. Tee-shirts are expected to be trendy in style and reflect clasic, rather than movie, characters.

The store will carry two new Disney brands, Kingdom Couture and DV28, as well as merchandise from hip designers. For more on the store Vault 28.

The team member clicked on the headline, expecting to find an article giving reason or reasons for the tie-up. Instead, she was led to an interesting website. Southwest Airlines is #1 at OIA

Southwest Airlines has grown from 12 flights a day to 7 cities in 1996 to become the largest individual carrier at Orlando International Airport ten years later. Southwest (NYSE: LUV) now has 93 nonstop flights daily to nearly 30 cities as well as direct or connecting flights to 26 more cities. Of the 31,000 people employed by Southwest, 1600 of them are based in Orlando including 718 flight attendants and 471 pilots. Orlando is Southwest’s busiest airport in Florida and its ninth busiest overall. The busiest airport for Southwest  in terms of flights is Las Vegas.

The Orlando Business Journal ranks airlines by the number of passengers getting on or off a carrier’s plane in 2005. At OIA, Delta Airlines came in second and American Airlines was ranked third. The top 25 carriers can be found in this article.

Disney World’s Epcot Food and Wine Festival Sept. 29th-Nov. 12, 2006

One of us at The Orlando Avenue Top Team has friends who fly down from New York at this time every year because they so much enjoy the Food and Wine Fesival at Epcot. This yearly event takes place at the World Showcase at Epcot which is open daily from 11 – 9, along with days which have special extra hours. This Food and Wine Festival is for everyone who eats! You can have appetizer-size portions in a courtyard or you can enjoy a gourmet dinner prepared by a master chef. You can attend seminars on shrimp or beer or have fun at a wine tasting. You can hear live music played outdoors by popular bands.

There is much to do and lots of food to eat and beer and wine to drink. Many countries send culinar ambassadors to this event. Some of the countries represented are Morocco, Poland, Mexico, Greece, Australia, France and Ireland. This year Argentina and Thailand have joined the world marketplace for the first time. Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority

Yes, there is a bus service in Central Florida! The Central Florida Regional Transporation Authority – called LYNX – provides public transportation. Downtown Orlando has its own bus system operated through LYNX called Lymmo.

 The downtown Lymmos are free, control their own traffic signals, and make a three mile circuit through the area. LYNX buses operate almost 24 hours a day throughout Orange County. A standard one-way fare is $1.50 and transfers are free. A host of information including bus routes, schedules, maps, bus stops and stops with shelter can be found at the their website.
