St. Gerards Church in the Valley on the island of Anguilla in the British West Indies

The facade of this unusal looking Roman Catholic church is studded with local stones looking as if a hand had thrown the stones leaving them to land and stay where they will. As well as being a holy site, the building is considered a tourist attraction.

United States Croquet Association and the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida

It’s a slow, steady game and it has its devotees. The United States Croquet Association, based in West Palm Beach, claims approximately 3,5000 members. Florida is considered the croquet capital of the United States – the sunny year-round weather encourages play and many of Florida’s older residents play it.  Of course younger people are welcome to play the game, too!

Locally, The Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee has croquet courts as does the Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando. The Winter Park Croquet Club is, as its name suggests, located in Winter Park. Although it seems as if a croquet ball is simply wacked through a wicket on a croquet lawn, there are actually detailed rules to the game. One of the rules involves wearing all white.
