With the summer season upon us, we need to tend to a few maintenance tasks before we can settle down in a hammock without a care in the world.  Keeping in mind the adage, “A stitch in time…”, we need to test the garage door opener in our Orlando FL home, check the air conditioning system, and service the lawn mower to ensure a breakdown-free summer.

This is a great visual of Orlando Housing Market for April 2014 compared to April 2013 created by the Orlando Regional Realtor Association. Bottom line is prices were up in April but the number of sales was down. Higher sales prices are great news for sellers and an indication that buyers should make a move soon before prices go up even higher.

If you’re like me,  you are always looking for ways to put more hours in your day. I discovered my iPhone has a built-in assistant…Siri! This little utilized and clever feature can make the life of a real estate agent much less complicated.

Here are 5 of my favorite ways to use Siri:

1. Set reminders for locations: Set up your home, work and listing locations and then you can tell Siri “Remind me to take the lock-box when I leave” or “Remind me to install the sign rider when I get to 123 Any Street.”
2. Convert measurements: Much quicker than using a calculator, if your client thinks in metres and you think in feet and inches “How many metres in 120 feet?”
3. Find holidays: Will that closing date fall on a holiday?  Ask Siri.
4. Schedule a meeting with a contact: Quickly add appointments to your calendar, “Schedule a meeting with Jane Smith at 4pm on Wednesday.”  Siri will even email Jane a confirmation.
5. Find a restaurant nearby: Looking for a place to grab a quick lunch? Ask Siri to find the best restaurant for a burger and it will search Yelp for good reviews close to your location.
